He signs up for kendo, hoping swords and discipline will up his game. Despite some epic fails, Jem’s journey from Naruto hoodie-wearing newbie to semi-competent swordsman goes viral. His sensei, Mr. Tanaka, drops wisdom about heart and resilience, which Jem reluctantly admits might be useful. Ultimately, Jem learns that samurai skills might not win his crush back, but they definitely make for killer TikToks and newfound confidence.
